Back Of The Canvas

Back of the canvas today: about 24 trees on top of cars coming home for the holidays--all on the CT side.(some cars with 2 trees on top.) Didn't see any on top of cars in Rockland. What does this mean?

Here is the current back of the canvas for the coming holiday(s) that have made up the last few days: buying Christmas stamps, planting paperwhites in their containers, storing the fans and bringing out the nutcrackers, fighting an overflowing amount of people at the grocery store to get needed stuff, buying 5 pounds of string beans, cleaning up the little berries that have fallen off the bittersweet before someone steps and squshes them, looking for and not finding (yet) the right card to send. Etc. These are the things that lie at the back of the "canvas" for the holidays--for a lot of women anyway. They are wonderful in their own way.

Well, I'm sorry I haven't added anything here for so long, but I never thought anyone (including myself) was reading it. Then surprise, I checked in one day and found out that I have two followers! (thank you!).
So now I will have to start adding things again, and I will try to make them worth reading and following. Maybe if I get really used to this, I will download some wonderful photos of wonderful and other things too.
This is not a themed blog really. I'm going to try and make it about the back of things--things that make you wonder, creep in when you don't expect it, surprise you because they seem so new, or so strange, or so great.
I'll see what I can do.
For this entry, I'm really glad to say that I just stumbled upon someone else's blog lamenting the poor plight of l'Escargot vs. Watusi. I think Watusi is getting a fair slap in the face--not to diminish Alma Thomas, just the Hirshhorn and the White House. Enough about that.
2) Uck to Christmas. Already. This is a holiday I used to love a lot. A trip to the mall has already destroyed it for me this year. I am trying to be smart enough to figure out how to find it/celebrate it/ honor it in a quiet but still festive way. I think nature will have a lot to do with this. I know many people would say "try church". I would, but somehow, nature does it for me more.
3) a great photo I received from my daughter recently of a lilttle hermit crab--who had chosed a broken bottle top with the cap still on as his shell. Very soon I will post it on here for you to see.
4) The contemporary art market and $39,000,000.00 (hammer) for an Andy Warhol titled "Two hundred One Dollar Bills." Irony.
5) The back of the canvas--what is behind? Anything?

This is the Halloween card I made last year from a great

I have watched my bird do when he is exploring new food.

I have been on a rant about this for three days. But I mean, really. Look up both images on Google, turn Thomas' 90 degrees to the left (right?) and you tell me if this work should be included in the new White House Collection of American Art, not to mention how the ____ did it ever get chosen for the Hirshhorn in the first place?
Can anyone say plagiarism? American art? I don't think so!
